News & updates

What has changed in the game, newest first. The game is at v0.55.0.

v0.55.0 A faster start

7 October 2026

  • A faster start for new realms. New rulers now begin with a finished Farm beside their Castle, full storehouses of gold, wood, iron and food, a full population of 30, and an army of 30 Militia standing guard at the Castle, so you can build, train and expand from your very first minute. Last round's top players still get their start bonus on top of full storehouses.
  • More people for everyone. Every realm now has 20 more population room, on top of what your Castle and Housing give. Existing realms get it too.

v0.54.1 Easier invitations

6 October 2026

  • Inviting friends is easier. The Invite friends page now has a ready-made message to copy, a Share button on phones, and quick links to share on Reddit, X, Facebook and WhatsApp. Friends who open your link see the game's home page first, with your name on it, before they sign up. You still both get Gems once they have settled in.

v0.54.0 Buy Gems

6 October 2026

  • Buy Gems. The Gem Shop has a new Buy Gems tab with five Gem packs, from 100 Gems for $0.99 up to 7,000 Gems for $49.99, with bigger packs giving bonus Gems. Your very first purchase gives double the Gems. Payments are handled securely by our reseller Paddle, and Gems arrive within seconds. Earning Gems for free (the daily gift, achievements and round trophies) works as before.
  • Terms, refunds and prices. New Terms of Service, Refund policy and Gem prices pages are linked at the bottom of every page, and the Privacy policy explains how purchases are handled.

v0.53.0 The open beta

5 October 2026

  • The open beta has begun! Dukes & Dragons now lives at dukesanddragons.com. Round 1, the playtest round, is over: congratulations to Cote, kyrakin and Lexenk9, our first champions, now in the Hall of Fame. Round 2 starts fresh for everyone: choose your people and claim your land. Your account, trophies, achievements, merits, nameplates, chat bubbles, crests and Gems carry over. The playtest address forwards to the new one; you may need to log in once more.
  • A home for the realm. Dukes & Dragons has a proper website and its own logo: a home page that shows what the game is about, a public game guide, news, the Hall of Fame and a Community page with our Discord. Share the link with friends: they can look around before they sign up.

v0.52.0 New nameplates, chat bubbles and crest emblems

5 October 2026

  • Six new nameplates and chat bubbles. Wildwood (with drifting fireflies), Runestone, Stormcaller (with flashes of lightning), Celestial (with twinkling stars), Ghostfire and Sunforged are in the Gem Shop and in Edit profile.
  • More crest options. The crest editor has new premium parts: Swallowtail, Battlement and Arch shields; Quarterly, Wavy, Pall and Gyronny patterns; Pearl, Rose gold, Frost and Jade colours; and Twin-link and Scalloped borders. Eight new painted emblems join them: the Lion, Griffin, Stag, Bear, Kraken, Phoenix, Unicorn and Raven.

v0.51.1 Have your say in polls

4 October 2026

  • Have your say in polls. Now and then the staff will ask the realm a question. A notice appears at the top of every page while a poll is waiting for your vote, and you vote right on your dashboard. You get one vote per poll, and depending on the poll you can see how everyone voted.

v0.51.0 Painted nameplates, chat bubbles and a new look for chat

4 October 2026

  • Painted nameplates and chat bubbles. Nameplates are now painted frames that shimmer, glow or smoulder, and achievement nameplates carry the emblem of the achievement that earned them. Each design also comes with a matching chat bubble for your messages in chat. Bronze, Silver, Gold and Legendary are earned from achievements as before, and four premium designs (Dragonfire, Frostbound, Royal Amethyst and Abyssal Tide) are in the new Cosmetics tab of the Gem Shop, yours for good once bought (you can also buy them right from Edit profile). Mix and match any nameplate with any bubble in Edit profile and save both at once.
  • A new look for chat. Chat now reads like the messages on your phone: each message shows the player's picture and name above their bubble, your own messages sit on the right, and quick follow-ups from the same player are grouped together. Every bubble lines up the same way, whatever design it uses.
  • A cleaner crest editor. Crest parts are now in four tabs (Shape, Pattern, Emblem and Border, each with its colour) beside a live preview. Try on any premium part, and buy it right there next to the preview (one part at a time, or everything your design needs at once) without losing the design you are working on.

v0.50.0 The fresh look reaches every corner of the realm

4 October 2026

  • The game asks in its own window. Every "are you sure?" question (disbanding an army, banishing an heir, leaving an alliance, declaring war and so on) now appears in the game's own window instead of a plain browser box.
  • A cleaner Spymasters page. Your spymasters are cards showing whether they are guarding your realm, infiltrating or watching someone; click one to send them out, change their target or call them home. Captive spies and intel reports have their own tabs.
  • A cleaner Relics page. Your vault, kingdom relics and troop relics each have a tab of relic cards. Click a relic in the vault to place it in your realm or give it to a knight.
  • A cleaner Friends page. Friends and enemies are cards with who is online, their alliance and score, and buttons to mail, invite or remove them. Notes on enemies open in their own window.
  • A cleaner Mail page. Messages are easy-to-scan rows with unread ones highlighted, and switching between Inbox, Sent and Write mail no longer reloads the page.
  • A cleaner Gem Shop. Your daily gift sits at the top, every item is a card that tells you how many more Gems you need, and Earn Gems and History have their own tabs. Buying asks you to confirm first.
  • A cleaner World Map, Events, Achievements, Hall of Fame and Help. The World Map lists your known islands as cards with how much of each is claimed, and expeditions at sea as cards with their countdown. Event filters switch without reloading the page. Achievements are cards with progress bars. Each Hall of Fame round shows its top three on a podium. Help shows one topic at a time: pick a topic, or All topics to see everything.

v0.49.0 A fresh look: cards, tabs and pop-ups across the realm

4 October 2026

  • A fresh look. The Armies, Alliance, War & Diplomacy, Dynasty, Heir Market, Market, Tournaments, Dashboard and My Island pages have been rebuilt: long lists and tables are now cards you can take in at a glance, sections sit in tabs (each page remembers the one you used last), and clicking a card opens a window with its details and orders.
  • Building on your island. On an empty plot of yours, Build opens a window of what fits there, sorted into Production, Troops, Defense and Other. Each card shows what the building does, how long it takes and what it costs, and tells you if you are short of something. The panel under the map now sums up the selected plot at a glance and puts its actions in tabs (Building, Train, Troops here, Send army, Sail, Fly, Scouts, or Attack and Conquer on other plots). The map legend moved behind a Legend button.
  • Training troops. Train troops opens a window of unit cards, each with its own new painting, showing attack, defense, training time, cost and food upkeep, with a Train button on each.
  • Choosing and forming armies on the map. Picking which army to send opens a window of your armies as cards, with their distance and chance to win and a search box. You can also form an army from the troops waiting on a plot without leaving the map.
  • Armies. Armies, Reserves, Leaders, Scouts and marches each have their own tab of cards with troop counts at a glance. Click any card for all its details and orders (send, add or split troops, leader, rename).
  • Alliance. Members, Vault, Buildings, Envoys, Recruit and Settings each have their own tab. Leaders and officers click a member to promote, demote or remove them, and donating, setting the tax and paying out open in their own window. Looking for an alliance? They are shown as cards with their crest, and forging a new one is a button away.
  • War & Diplomacy. Every war is a card that shows at a glance whether a peace offer is waiting for you; click it to answer the offer or make your own. Ceasefires and past wars have their own tabs.
  • Dynasty. Every family member is a card with bars for Martial, Stewardship, Diplomacy and Intrigue and a label saying what they are up to (for example "Fully grown: ready to come of age"). Click an heir to make them a knight or a noble, rename or banish them. A knight's Orders button takes you straight to that knight on the Armies page.
  • Heir Market and Market. Heirs on offer are cards with their stat bars, family crest and price, and buying asks you to confirm first. Goods for sale tell you at a glance whether the price is below or above the usual price.
  • Tournaments. The tournament's state and countdown sit at the top; your knights, the entrants, the bracket, betting and history each have a tab. Click a past tournament to see its final placings and every joust.
  • Dashboard. Morale, military, troops on the move, production and recent battles each have a card that takes you to the details, and your buildings are shown with their paintings.
  • Knights are safer in easy fights. A knight can no longer fall in battle when the chance to take the tile was 100%, or when the army lost less than 10% of its troops. They can still be wounded.
  • Search plots by what is on them. The search box above long plot lists now also finds a plot by its building (try "castle" or "farm") or by the name of an army standing there.

v0.48.0 Airships, marching on allied land, and the Drawbridge

3 October 2026

  • Skydocks and airships. Rulers with a level 5 Castle can build a Skydock and train Airships. Airships carry an army anywhere on the same island in a straight line, over walls, other rulers' land and water, and set it down on your own land or your alliance's. Each airship carries 20 troops, and 10 more for every Skydock level above 1. On your own land the airships stay where they land; after dropping an army on an ally's land they fly back home. Airships can also fly an army straight into a dungeon or raid on the island, without having to stand next to it first, and carry the survivors home once the fight is over. Pick your own or an ally's plot on the island map and use the new Fly here panel. See the Help page for details.
  • March on your allies' land. Your armies can now march onto tiles held by members of your alliance and wait there. While they stand on an ally's tile they help defend it, and they can attack, conquer or besiege the tiles next to it, so allies can launch joint offensives from each other's borders. If the tile is captured, your army falls with it. If either of you leaves the alliance, or it is disbanded, your armies on their land fall back to your nearest tile. Troops can only be added to an army, or an army disbanded, on your own land. On the map, a tile's troop count shows only its owner's troops; visiting armies get their own badge at the top of the tile (green for yours, blue for an ally's), and the tile's details list every army there and whose it is.
  • New building: the Drawbridge. A crossing for your moat: it slows enemy armies just like the moat around it, but is lowered for you and your alliance, who march across at full speed. Build one next to your moat, or convert a moat tile into a Drawbridge from its tile on the island map.
  • New artwork. Selecting a tile now shows its building's painting large in the tile's details. Walls, Gates and Moats have painted art, and every skirmish camp, dungeon and raid site now appears as its own painting on the map and in the tile's details. Events and a few other spots use new icons that suit the realm.
